First PS3 "modchip" arrives Semi-Related
Allows for disc backup to hard drive

SONY'S PS3 WAS long deemed unhackable, at least until today when videos appeared on YouTube of a solution that allows you to back up the Blu-ray media that the PS3 games come on, onto either the internal hard drive of the PS3 or an external USB hard drive while remaining playable. The solution is called PS JailBreak and unlike previous solutions for older consoles, it doesn't require the console to be opened, nor does any soldering have to be performed.

THE MUCH ANTICIPIATED pricing for Microsoft's "casual gamer" accessory – Kinect – for the Xbox 360 has been announced today and, as predicted, the motion controller will retail for $149.99 on its own. However, that's only half of today's news as Microsoft also announced the new slim Xbox 360 Arcade which was leaked by Amazon.de a few days ago.

PROJECT NATAL IS set to be announced at E3 next month and should launch in October or November, at least in some parts of the world. Nintendo to announce 3D handheld at E3 Semi-Related
Backwards compatible with current games

NINTENDO DOESN'T EVEN have an HD capable console as yet, but the company has today announced its intention to launch a 3D capable handheld gaming device that doesn't require you to wear any glasses. SPECULATIONS ABOUT A smaller Xbox 360 have taken off again today after a picture of what is said to be a new Xbox 360 motherboard has appeared on a Chinese forum. Rumours of a smaller Xbox 360 started way back in 2008 with speculations about a 45nm chip codenamed Valhalla that was supposed to appear last year but never showed up.
