Have you read the just popuped reviews of HD7770? Common sense is HD7770 has 90% of old HD6850 performance. Apparently that's the new AMD style: new products have lower performance than those which they are aimed to replace. Big fun.

And a die size of 123mm2; practically the same as Turks and less than half the size of 255m2 Barts.
From an engineering standpoint, Cape Verde is a respectable chip and is not intended as a competitor for Barts. Most of the sales at this point are probably targeted at OEMs anyway, so the retail price hardly matters to AMD.

The 7770/7750 replace the 6770/6750. The 6850 and 6870 replacements are coming next month. Nice try though.

Customers don't look at die size.
And a die size is of little interest w/o yields. F(die size,yields) is of importance. 40nm yields are better than 28nm ones for sure.

I can understand why AMD is axing executives and managers related to its x86 division, but to axe personnel of the only division of the company that functioned properly does not make sense to me.
